What NOT to Hair!
So, I get questions all the time about what to and not to do to hair. You would be surprised the questions I get! I have decided to post a few tips on how to properly maintain healthy hair.
1. In order to maintain soft silky hair that flows easily, reduce the amount of products you use on your hair. SO many women think the more products they use the better their hair will look and feel. I have 16 years experience in the hair industry and I must say…that is so far from the truth. In the case of soft hair, LESS is definitely MORE. Use products that do not leave residue on the hair. Once the hair is coated by layers and layers of products it can no longer flow freely.
2. Reduce the amount of heat you use on your hair. Far to frequently women use flat irons, curling irons, hot rollers, etc. I recommend that tools that apply heat be used no more than 3 times per week. The more heat you use on your hair, the higher risk you run to create dryness and split ends as well.
3. Be sure to use styling tools that do not require that you repeatedly have to use in order to achieve the look you desire. A once over using the RIGHT styling tool will create silky bouncy hair.
4. Keep your ends trimmed regularly. I know…I know…you don’t want to get your hair cut because you are trying to grow it out. Here’s a news flash: If you don’t keep it trimmed regularly it will break off more than it grows! I recommend that you get your ends trimmed once every 6-8 weeks.
5. Hair color requires special attention! You cannot get a permanent hair color, high lights, chunks, etc. and expect to continue in your regular hair maintenance routine. The more chemical processes your hair endures, the more maintenance required. You have to keep the hair moisturized because the chemicals will cause your hair to become dry, brittle, and start to shed if not properly conditioned.
6. Drink more water and 100% pure juices. When you hydrate your body you are also hydrating your hair. Think about it…where does the hair grow from? YOU!! What you put in your body is what you get out. It does not exclude your hair. Be sure to maintain a healthy overall diet and you will begin to see the results in your hair.
I will be back in the near future with more hair tips and secrets! In the meantime, if you or someone you know would like to receive customized hair extensions by way of sew-ins, fusion, micro-links, interlocking, customized lace front wigs, eye lash extensions, clip ons, etc…I am here!
